The North East's premier racket club runs the region's most active pickleball programme: four sessions a week on four permanently lined indoor courts, open to non-members at £7 an hour, with paddles and balls to borrow. An introduction session with a coach runs most Saturdays, and several membership tiers include pickleball for free.
Newcastle United Foundation's community hub, five minutes from St James' Park, has a four-court sports hall available for hire, and pickleball sessions have been hosted here. It's the most central hall option in the city for a group booking.
The Foundation's South Gosforth site runs two drop-in sessions every Thursday, including a lunchtime Introduction to Pickleball from 12pm to 1pm that's built for complete beginners. No pre-booking: turn up, pay at reception, play. The easiest zero-commitment first game in the city's north.
East Newcastle's activity dome offers bookable pickleball courts under cover, a sensible answer to the Tyneside weather. Book through the Better app.
The west end's leisure centre appears on Better's list of pickleball venues. Building work was flagged on its page in October 2026, so check current hall availability before you set off.
