Sheffield's first purpose-built indoor pickleball centre, opened in November 2025: three professional acrylic courts in a fully enclosed all-weather space, plus a café and pro shop. Coaching, group sessions and social events run through the week, which makes it the obvious starting point for anyone taking the sport seriously in South Yorkshire.

The 21 best places to play in Sheffield
Four of Sheffield's 18 new outdoor courts sit here in Hillsborough Park, and the sessions are free, part of the council programme that gave Sheffield more outdoor pickleball courts than any other UK city. Sessions are organised through Sheffield Pickleball Club, whose social play runs on the Spond app.
Two permanent courts in one of south-west Sheffield's favourite parks, part of the council's 18-court outdoor rollout. Pay-and-play works out at £3.50 for two hours, and the park's café and riverside walk make it an easy family outing with a game attached.
Outdoor courts in Bingham Park, part of the run of park courts that has made Sheffield, by its own club's reckoning, the UK's leading city for outdoor pickleball. Sheffield Pickleball Club runs sessions here in the warmer months; bring a jumper for the evening ones.
The Crosspool and District Youth Sports Trust's hall on Coldwell Lane, borrowed for Sheffield Pickleball Club sessions. The name says youth; the pickleball crowd is gloriously mixed in age, which is rather the point of the sport.
A north Sheffield leisure centre on Shiregreen Lane and one of Sheffield Pickleball Club's indoor venues. Handy for Firth Park and Shiregreen players who would rather not cross the city for a game.
The sports hall at King Ecgbert School in Dore hosts Sheffield Pickleball Club sessions once the school day is done. It serves the south-west of the city, where the hills make an indoor game look especially sensible in winter.
Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre, off Bochum Parkway, is one of Sheffield Pickleball Club's regular venues and has hosted the city's own pickleball tournament. A proper racket-sport building, so the lighting and floor are better than most church halls.
St Gabriel's Church in Greystones lends its hall to Sheffield Pickleball Club. Church-hall pickleball is a very British institution: modest ceiling, warm welcome, and usually a kettle within reach.
A community sports college in Handsworth that gives east Sheffield its own Sheffield Pickleball Club venue. School sports halls are badminton-sized by design, which suits pickleball perfectly.
Outdoor courts in High Hazels Park, Darnall, among the park courts Sheffield Pickleball Club and the city council have opened across Sheffield. Free-feeling, fresh-air pickleball in the east end of the city.
The indoor half of Hillsborough's pickleball offer: while the park opposite has outdoor courts, the leisure centre on Beulah Road keeps Sheffield Pickleball Club playing when it rains, which in Sheffield is not a rare event.
Park tennis courts in Hollinsend, south-east Sheffield, used for Sheffield Pickleball Club outdoor sessions. A neighbourhood venue in the best sense: turn up, play, and walk home.
A school sports hall in Ranmoor where Sheffield Pickleball Club runs evening play, including a women-only Tuesday session split between mixed-ability and intermediate courts. A good answer for anyone who'd rather not be out-hit by somebody's competitive husband.
A community library on Duke Street that doubles as a Sheffield Pickleball Club venue. Possibly the only place in the city where you can borrow a novel and practise your dink in the same building.
The sports hall at Sheffield Girls' High School in Broomhill, one of Sheffield Pickleball Club's west-side venues. Convenient for the student and hospital end of the city.
Sheffield Hallam University's sports facility on Broomgrove Road, used by Sheffield Pickleball Club. University halls tend to be well lit with decent floors, and this one is no exception.
A leisure centre on East Bank Road serving Arbourthorne and the Manor, and one of the venues behind Sheffield Pickleball Club's claim of more than forty sessions a week across the city.
A High Green club with three new courts, upgraded floodlights and what it describes as the first outdoor pickleball facilities in Sheffield. Four socials a week, and Sheffield Pickleball Club plays here too.
A community sports centre in Wisewood, north-west Sheffield, and part of Sheffield Pickleball Club's network. Close enough to Hillsborough to make a two-venue week entirely possible for the keen.
A community hall in Fulwood that Sheffield Pickleball Club uses for regular play, and the scene of the club's twelve-hour non-stop charity pickleball marathon. Lesser venues have hosted lesser feats of endurance.
