County guide · England
The West Midlands outside Birmingham has one of the country's best dedicated venues. Courtside in Stourbridge has eight cushioned courts and a show court. Around it are tennis-club courts in Knowle and Hampton in Arden, a weekly £4.50 drop-in at Walsall's Oak Park and David Lloyd in Solihull. Birmingham and Coventry have their own guides; here's the rest, verified.

A dedicated pickleball centre on a Stourbridge industrial estate: the unpromising address gives way to proper courts built for the game. Eight courts, including a show court with video replays and a digital scoreboard; Power Pickleball runs sessions here three times a week.
A Halesowen school where Power Pickleball runs Saturday introductions and weekend socials. If you've watched the sport on the telly and fancied it, this is the gentle way in.
A members' club founded in 1908, between Knowle and Dorridge, with a multi-purpose court laid out for two pickleball courts. Old club, new tricks.
A village sports club near Solihull that houses seven sports clubs, a pickleball club among them, with shared clubhouse facilities. Cricket, hockey and pickleball: a very English mix.
David Lloyd's Cranmore club in Shirley, with pickleball for members. One of several places to play in Solihull's pickleball-friendly suburbs.
A Walsall council leisure centre with a Tuesday late-morning pickleball session: £4.50, kit provided, no booking needed. Turn up and play, the way it should be.
