Venues across Hampshire
Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh
A parish-council sports pavilion where pickleball sits on the programme alongside badminton and table tennis, with a busy over-50s group meeting twice a week. Check the venue's own timetable for current pickleball slots.
Fleet
Fleet's leisure centre and the busiest of Fleet Aces' venues, with a Monday morning and a Friday afternoon session. The club has more than a hundred members, so you'll rarely be short of a fourth.
A Fleet secondary school whose sports hall hosts Fleet Aces' late Tuesday session. Ten o'clock finishes are for the dedicated; the club has plenty of them.
Eversley
A prep school sports hall in Eversley, on the Hampshire and Berkshire border, where Fleet Aces play on Monday evenings. Country lanes on the way in, decent courts once you're there.
Chineham, Basingstoke
A hotel with its own sports facilities in Chineham, used by Fleet Aces for Tuesday evening play. Pickleball followed by a drink at the hotel bar is a combination several members appear to have mastered.
Yateley
Yateley School's sports hall, home to one of Fleet Aces' two Wednesday evening sessions in the town. Choose between here and Frogmore depending on which car park you prefer.
A leisure centre on Potley Hill Road in Yateley, and the earlier of Fleet Aces' two Wednesday evening options in the town. Handy for players coming from Sandhurst and Camberley.
Aldershot
The Army's Garrison Sports Centre in Aldershot, where Fleet Aces round off their week on Thursday evenings. Civilians are welcome; parade-ground discipline is not required, though it helps with footwork.
Petersfield
Everyone Active's Petersfield leisure centre, where a local coach runs Tuesday coaching groups at a very reasonable £6.40: coaching first, games after. The later slot leans towards beginners.
Titchfield, Fareham
A prep school in Titchfield where Comets Pickleball runs DUPR-recorded competitive play on Wednesday evenings. Bring your A-game and your rating anxiety.
Hedge End, Southampton
The sports centre at Deer Park School in Hedge End, one of Comets Pickleball's three homes alongside Dinks in Eastleigh. Comets call themselves the home of pickleball in Southampton, and their session list backs it up.
Winchester
Eight indoor acrylic courts at St Swithun's, which puts it among the best-equipped club venues in southern England. Winchester Pickleball Club uses it for its higher-level Tuesday night and a Friday club night with box leagues.
Winchester Pickleball Club's first proper home after it outgrew Itchen Abbas village hall: the college sports centre hosts the developers' night and the Sunday sessions, including the £15 intro for complete beginners.
Gosport
A Gosport racket club with a properly organised pickleball section: open play, coaching and club games through the week, and a free first session for newcomers.
Gosport's leisure centre runs a Wednesday afternoon pickleball session and is home to Gosport Pickleball Club. Juniors pay less, which is rare and welcome.
Hayling Island
A Hayling Island sports club with real tennis, lawn tennis, padel, squash and pickleball under one membership. A splendidly eccentric collection of racket sports by the sea.
Ringwood
David Lloyd's Ringwood club on the edge of the New Forest, with pickleball among its racket sports. A members' option for west Hampshire and east Dorset.
Southampton
A David Lloyd club off Frogmore Lane in Southampton, with pickleball sessions for members. The city's members' option, close to the M27.
West End, Southampton
David Lloyd's West End club on Botley Road, with pickleball for members. Handy for Eastleigh and Hedge End, both busy pickleball areas.
Andover
Andover's main leisure centre, run by Places Leisure, which has a dedicated pickleball page and bookable sessions. North-west Hampshire's obvious place to start.
Basingstoke
Basingstoke's town-centre sports centre at Festival Place, with pickleball courts bookable for two or four players in 40 or 60 minute slots. Shop, then dink.
